Golim goes hiking; eats PB&J

Back on dry ground (we probably kissed upon meeting)
That's right, up is only about 15 degrees away from the slope of the derivative of gravity. Scary.
Scott about to traverse the chasm of doom.
Ammon the Mountain Goat
Eric, Ethan, and Ammon about to go for an unexpectedly long and arduous hike. We are unsunburned and jovial . . . for now.

This is in Academy Arms # 1 with Christian's mirad photos as the backdrop.

What a Hike!

Thanks to those who came hiking on Thursday.  I'm sorry for those who weren't able to make it.  We had a great time, although it was a little more of a hike than I had expected.  I thought that we might only be going through snow for maybe a mile or so.  As it turns out, at least half of the trail was covered in snow, and not just a little.  Ammon was our hero and forged the trail.  Everyone did a great job toughing it through to the end.  Hopefully we'll get pictures (and video) soon.

Thursday Hike

Our next hike is going to be this Thursday (in honor of the end of finals! And to beat the storm coming in this weekend).   The plan is to go up Slate Canyon (the next canyon south of the "Y" trail) until we hit snow.  If we're lucky we'll be able to go all the way around Maple Mountain and may be able to go up to the top of 'Y' Mountain.  This will be a moderately difficult hike.  I think it is about 5 or 6 miles and it climbs pretty quickly. It may take about 4 hours maybe 5 if we go up to the peak.  I'm really excited to go up this canyon though.  I think it is one of the most beautiful trails in Provo.  We'll meet at 9:00 Thursday morning in AA1.  Hope you all can come!

Ok. So sorry if this is a little overkill with the pictures...but it was an awesome hike! Thanks Scott!

Need a break from finals?  This Saturday I, and whoever wants to come along, will be heading up Rock Canyon.  This ought to be a very easy hike.  We'll only hike until we reach snow, which with the snow we'll be getting this week, won't be too far; maybe a couple of miles one way.   Estimated time is two to three hours round trip.  Meet at AA 1 Saturday morning at 9:00 AM.  Saturday looks like it's going to be a great weather, and with the leaves just coming out it ought to be beautiful. Come ready to hike!
